How to Install a Pergola
UK Installation Guide
Base preparation, delivery access, electrical requirements, and what to expect on installation day for your PergoEnvision glass garden room.
Before You Order: Base Preparation
Every PergoEnvision — which includes sliding glass doors as standard on all open sides — must sit on a completely flat, level, solid surface. This is essential for both structural integrity and smooth sliding door operation.
Suitable bases include concrete pads, outdoor tiles or paving slabs, and resin-bound surfaces. The base must be finished and cured before the installation team arrives. If you don’t have a suitable base, a local builder can lay a concrete pad in 1–2 days for £500–£1,500 depending on size.
Free Standing vs Wall Mounted
Free standing: Sits on 4+ posts, independent of any building. All 4 sides include glass sliding doors as standard. Wall mounted: Attaches to your house wall on one side, with 2 posts on the opposite side. The 3 open sides include glass sliding doors as standard. Wall-mounted is typically £1,000–£2,000 less than free-standing.
Delivery and Access
Our pergola components arrive by delivery vehicle. Ensure clear access from the road to your garden — measure every gate and side passage. The glass door panels are among the larger components. If access is very tight, send us photos of your access route and we’ll confirm feasibility before you order.
Electrical Requirements
The motorised louvred roof, LED lighting, and optional extras (heaters, motorised screens) all run from a standard household electrical supply (220V). A weatherproof outdoor socket near the installation point is typically sufficient. If adding multiple infrared heaters, your electrician may advise a dedicated circuit.
What Happens on Installation Day
- Day 1: Frame assembled and erected. Posts fixed to base, beams and guttering connected, louvred roof mechanism installed
- Day 2: Sliding glass doors fitted on all open sides (standard inclusion). Electrical connections made, lighting tested, motorised roof calibrated
- Day 3 (if needed): Optional extras installed — side screens, heaters, RGB lighting. Final testing and handover walkthrough
After Installation
Aluminium pergolas require virtually no maintenance. The glass sliding doors should be cleaned periodically with warm soapy water — the aluminium tracks may need occasional lubrication to keep the sliding mechanism smooth. The motorised mechanisms are IP67 sealed and should not need servicing under normal use.
