Louvred Roof Pergolas vs Retractable Pergolas — Which Is Better?

Louvred Roof Pergolas vs
Retractable Pergolas
Two very different roof systems, two very different experiences. Which is right for your garden, terrace, or commercial project?
How Louvred Roof Pergolas Work
A louvred roof pergola uses motorised aluminium blades that rotate from fully open (0°) to fully closed (135°). When open, sunlight and air flow through freely. When closed, the blades interlock to form a watertight roof with integrated drainage channelling rainwater through the posts.
Our PergoFluent and PergoEnvision both use this system. The PergoEnvision also includes sliding glass doors as standard on all open sides — 3 sides wall-mounted, 4 sides free-standing — creating a fully enclosed glass garden room at the quoted price.
How Retractable Pergolas Work
A retractable pergola uses a motorised fabric canopy or sliding aluminium panels that slide horizontally to open or close the roof. When fully retracted, you have completely open sky — something a louvred system can’t achieve since the blades remain in place even when open. Our PergoLuxe offers a premium retractable system.
