Collection: Multi-Fuel Stoves

Multi-Fuel Stoves UK — DEFRA-Exempt Wood & Smokeless Stoves from £1,495

A multi-fuel stove burns both seasoned wood and approved smokeless solid fuels, giving you flexibility on fuel and a steady, controllable heat. At Nuovo Luxury we stock multi-fuel stoves in the UK from respected makers including Charnwood, Heta, Esse and Stovax — Ecodesign 2022 compliant and, where stated, DEFRA exempt for use in smoke control areas. Prices from £1,495.

Multi-Fuel vs Wood-Burning — What's the Difference?

A dedicated wood-burner is optimised for logs and burns them on a flat bed. A multi-fuel stove adds a raised grate and ashpan, letting air reach the fuel from below — which is how smokeless fuels and coal need to burn. If you want the option to burn both, or live where dry wood supply is uncertain, multi-fuel is the versatile choice. For wood-only, see our log burners and wood stoves.

DEFRA Exemption & Ecodesign

If you live in a smoke control area (most UK towns and cities), you need a DEFRA-exempt stove to legally burn wood. All our current stoves meet Ecodesign 2022 — the standard for lower emissions and higher efficiency — and many are DEFRA exempt. Check the individual product spec or ask our team.

Sizing Your Stove

As a rough guide, you need roughly 1kW of output per 14m³ of room volume for a well-insulated room. Oversizing means running the stove slack (inefficient and dirtier); undersizing means it never quite heats the room. Our team can help you calculate the right kW output for your space.
