The Holl's Eccolo is a traditional Finnish steam sauna built for two, designed around one idea: use as little energy as possible without giving up the experience. Insulated walls, an elevated bench and a carefully designed door mean far less heat escapes — so it warms up quickly and holds temperature on a fraction of the running cost.
Supplied complete with a genuine Harvia Vega 3.5kW stove, sauna stones, seven-colour chromotherapy LED lighting and a full accessory kit — and backed by a 10-year woodwork warranty. At 150 × 130cm it fits a spare room, a garage conversion, a basement or a home gym.
Designed around running costs
Most saunas are sold on how hot they get. The Eccolo was designed around how much it costs to get there — which is the figure that decides whether you actually use it twice a week or twice a year.
- Insulated walls with mineral wool and a vapour barrier, so heat stays in the cabin rather than warming the room around it
- Elevated bench with footrest, putting you — and your feet — up in the hottest layer of air. Holl's own term for it is that raised benches "promote more intense heat"
- Carefully designed door to limit the heat dumped every time someone comes in or out
Between them, these reduce both the heated volume and the losses — which is why a modest 3.5kW stove does the job here that a larger heater would be needed for in a poorly insulated cabin.
Single-phase, standard supply
Because the stove is 3.5kW rather than 6kW or 9kW, the Eccolo runs from a standard 230V single-phase supply — roughly 15 amps, so a 16A circuit — with no three-phase or 400V installation required.
That is a meaningful difference. For most indoor saunas the electrical work is a significant part of the total cost and the main reason installations get delayed. Here it is a far simpler job. Your electrician should still confirm the circuit and protection for your property.
Materials and comfort
The exterior structure is spruce with a red cedar finish — robust, and warmer in tone than the pale pine most cabins use. Inside, the 2-seater layout uses an elevated bench with integrated seating and a slatted backrest, designed for compact and functional comfort rather than a low perch.
An included footrest completes it, and it is more than a nicety. Heat stratifies in a sauna — the air near the ceiling is considerably hotter than the air at floor level. Sitting on a raised bench with your feet dangling means your head is in the hottest air while your feet sit in a noticeably cooler layer. The footrest lifts them into the same band, so the heat reaches you evenly and the session feels the way it should.
Seven-colour chromotherapy LED lighting runs as a dimmed strip inside the cabin, giving soft indirect light rather than a glare in your eyeline. Run it fixed on one colour or let it cycle.
Holl's back the timber structure for ten years, with two years on the electronics. On a cabin at this price that is an unusually long commitment, and a fair indication of how the joinery is built.

Installation
Siting. The Eccolo needs a level floor able to take its weight, with clearance around it for assembly and ventilation. Measure your access route before ordering — doorways, stair turns and ceiling height all need checking, since the cabin stands 190cm tall.
Electrical. Runs from a 230V single-phase supply. All electrical work should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with current wiring regulations, and your electrician should confirm the circuit and protection for your property before installation.
Assembly. Supplied for assembly in situ. If you would rather not build it yourself, our team can assemble it on site — quoted separately for your address.
Common Questions
Do I need a special electrical supply?
No — that is one of the main reasons to choose this model. The 3.5kW stove runs from a standard 230V single-phase supply rather than needing a three-phase or 400V installation, which makes it far simpler and cheaper to get connected. A qualified electrician should still carry out and confirm the work.
Is 3.5kW powerful enough?
For this cabin, yes. The Eccolo's walls are insulated with mineral wool and a vapour barrier, and the elevated bench puts you in the hottest layer of air — so there is far less loss than in a comparable uninsulated cabin. The heater is sized to the design rather than the other way round.
Why does it have a footrest?
Because heat rises. On a raised bench your upper body sits in the hottest air while your feet would otherwise hang in a noticeably cooler layer nearer the floor. The footrest brings them up into the same heat, which makes the session more even and more comfortable — particularly on a longer sit.
What does the 10-year warranty cover?
The woodwork — the timber structure of the cabin — is covered for ten years. The electronics, including the heater and controls, are covered for two. Register your purchase after installation to activate it.
Can it go outdoors?
No — this is an indoor sauna. For a garden installation, look at our outdoor range and we will help you compare.
Is it a steam room?
No. It is a traditional Finnish sauna — dry heat, with steam created on demand by ladling water over the hot stones. That burst of löyly steam is what distinguishes a Finnish sauna from a steam room, which runs continuously humid at a much lower temperature.
How many will it really fit?
Two comfortably. It is designed as a sauna for a couple or an individual rather than a family — if you regularly want three or more, tell us and we will point you at the right size. A 6-seater version of the Eccolo is also available.
