Most garden saunas arrive as one finished cabin on the back of a lorry, and that cabin has to be craned or forklifted into position. If your garden sits behind the house, down a side passage, through a gate, on a roof terrace or at the end of a shared drive, that has always been the end of the conversation.

The saunas on this page are different. Every model here can be assembled on site by our installation team — the sauna is delivered in sections, carried through to your chosen spot by hand, and built where it stands. No crane, no hardstanding for a lorry, no 3.5m of clear side access.

That opens up gardens we previously had to turn away: terraced houses, mid-terrace courtyards, first-floor terraces, walled gardens, sloped plots and anywhere a HIAB simply cannot reach.

How on-site assembly works

1. We check your access. Send us photos of the route from the road to the spot, along with the narrowest point in centimetres. Most on-site builds need around 80cm of clear width — a standard garden gate is usually enough.

2. Your base goes down first. The sauna needs a level, load-bearing base ready before we arrive: concrete pad, paving slabs on a compacted sub-base, or a properly built timber deck. We will tell you the exact footprint and weight for your chosen model.

3. Delivery in sections. Wall panels, benches, roof, heater and glazing arrive flat-packed or in modules and are carried through by hand.

4. Build day. A two-person team assembles the cabin, fits the benches and heater, seals the roof and hands it over. Most builds are completed in a single day; larger cabins can run to two.

5. Electrical connection. A qualified electrician connects the heater to its own circuit. Smaller cabins run on 13amp; larger electric stoves usually need a dedicated feed. We are happy to speak to your electrician directly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need crane access for these saunas?

No. Every sauna in this collection is delivered in sections and built in position, so no crane, HIAB or forklift is required. This is the main reason to choose an on-site assembly model over a pre-assembled cabin.

How much access width do I need?

Around 80cm of clear width along the full route is enough for most models, which is roughly a standard garden gate. Measure the narrowest point — a gate post, a meter box or a low branch — and send us the number.

How long does assembly take?

Most cabins are assembled and handed over in a single day by a two-person team. Larger models, or sites with a long carry-in, can take two days.

What base does the sauna need?

A level, load-bearing surface: a concrete pad, paving slabs on a compacted sub-base, or a timber deck rated for the cabin's weight. It must be flat and square before build day. We supply the exact footprint and weight for your model so your groundworker can prepare it.

Do I need planning permission for a garden sauna in the UK?

In most cases a garden sauna falls under permitted development as an outbuilding, provided it is single storey, under 2.5m high within 2m of a boundary, and does not cover more than half the garden. Listed buildings, conservation areas and areas of outstanding natural beauty have tighter rules, so check with your local planning authority.

Does on-site assembly affect the warranty?

No. Assembly by our team keeps the manufacturer warranty fully intact, and in practice reduces the risk of the build faults that cause most warranty claims on self-assembled cabins.

Can an indoor sauna be assembled inside my house?

Yes. Indoor cabins such as the OKA Fusion Synergy 3 are carried in as flat panels and built in the room itself, so narrow hallways, tight stairwells and standard doorways are not a problem.
