Two saunas in one barrel. The Insignia Hybrid Barrel Sauna pairs a genuine 4.5kW Harvia stove reaching traditional Finnish temperatures with six red glass infrared emitters running far gentler, so you can take either kind of session or both together. A covered double seated porch gives you somewhere to sit and cool down between rounds without going back indoors.
Built from 35mm premium hemlock under a green shingled roof, the barrel form circulates heat evenly around the cabin rather than letting it stack in the corners. It seats two to three.
A genuine stainless steel Harvia heater with Finnish sauna stones. Ladle water over them for the löyly steam that defines a classic session. High heat, high humidity.
Four across the back and two at leg level, delivering radiant warmth directly to the body at much lower air temperatures. Easier on the lungs and comfortable for longer.
Temperatures shown are the usual operating ranges for each mode. Your own preference and how long you preheat will move it within those bands.
Why hybrid works
The stove takes time to bring a cabin up to temperature. The infrared emitters are usable within minutes. On a weeknight when you have twenty minutes, that is the difference between using your sauna and not bothering, and at the weekend you still have the full traditional session available.
It also settles the household argument. One person wants 90°C and steam, another finds that overwhelming and would rather sit at 45 to 50°C for half an hour. Run them independently or together, and choose per session rather than at the point of purchase.
The porch is not decoration
The cool down between rounds is half of what makes sauna bathing work, and most garden saunas ignore it entirely. You step straight out into the weather or trek back to the house. The double seated covered porch gives you somewhere sheltered to sit, breathe and let your body settle before going back in.
It is also the part you will use in October when the novelty of standing in the rain has worn off.
Built for outdoors
The cabin is 35mm premium hemlock, a close grained timber with good natural insulating properties and low resin content, which is why it is used for sauna interiors. The barrel profile sheds water and circulates heat evenly, and the green shingled roof is built to take year round British weather.
The door is 6mm tinted glass, keeping the cabin private from outside while letting light in.

Electrical Installation
This sauna carries two heating systems and needs a dedicated supply fitted by a qualified electrician. It is not a plug in appliance.
Do I need two separate supplies? No, one supply run to the sauna, split locally:
Important note for your electrician: the heater is configured for three phase by default. When wiring for single phase use, all three live wires must be connected together at the junction box. If this step is missed, only one heating element will work. Please pass these figures and this note on before installation.
Base and Maintenance
Base. The sauna must be installed on a solid and level base able to take its weight.
Timber treatment, please read. Like all timber garden structures, this sauna requires full exterior wood weatherproofing treatment after installation to ensure long life and prevent water ingress. This is a hemlock cabin, not a clad or aluminium finished unit, so treatment is not optional, and keeping it up is a condition of the timber warranty.
Delivery and Assembly
Professional installation is available. Our installation partners can assemble the sauna on site, test it and hand it over ready to use. This is an optional service, quoted separately based on your location, access and the configuration. Call us with your postcode and we will price it.

Common Questions
How hot does it get?
In traditional mode the 4.5kW Harvia stove takes the cabin to normal Finnish sauna temperatures, typically 80 to 90°C, and you add steam by ladling water over the stones. In infrared mode the air stays much gentler, typically 45 to 60°C, because the emitters warm your body rather than the air.
If infrared is cooler, is it a weaker session?
No, it is a different one. Infrared warms you directly rather than heating the air first, so you sweat at a far lower air temperature. People who find 90°C too much often prefer it, and it lets you stay in for 20 to 40 minutes rather than 10 to 20.
Can I run the stove and infrared at the same time?
Yes. The dual heat control lets you run the Harvia stove, the infrared emitters, or both together, so you can tailor each session rather than being locked into one style of heat.
How long does it take to heat up?
The infrared emitters are usable within a few minutes. The Harvia stove takes longer, as any traditional stove does, since it is heating the air and the stones rather than radiating directly at you. That difference is exactly why a hybrid is useful.
Does it need an electrician?
Yes. With a 4.5kW stove and a 2,200W infrared array it needs a dedicated supply, correctly installed. Using a qualified electrician also protects your warranty.
Does the timber really need treating?
Yes, and it is worth doing properly. Hemlock is a quality sauna timber but it is still timber outdoors. A full exterior weatherproofing treatment after installation, kept up over time, is what prevents water ingress and keeps the timber warranty valid.
How many people does it really fit?
Two comfortably, three at a push. It is designed as a couple's sauna rather than a family one. If you regularly want four or more, look at our larger cabins instead and we will help you compare.
How often should I use it?
Many regular users find three to five sessions a week suits them, with sessions typically running 20 to 40 minutes. Start shorter while you get used to the heat, stay hydrated, and listen to your body. If you have a heart condition, are pregnant, or are taking medication, check with your GP before starting sauna use.
