The Sanctuary Outdoor Finnish Sauna – Up To 5 Person With Changing Room

The Sanctuary is a traditional Finnish sauna with something most garden saunas do not have — a proper changing room. A 200 × 120cm antechamber sits between the door and the hot room, so you have somewhere to undress, leave towels and robes, and sit down afterwards without stepping straight back out into the weather.

Built in thermowood Nordic spruce, insulated, and delivered fully assembled. No flat pack and no weekend build — it arrives complete and is craned into position.

The changing room changes everything

Most garden saunas are a single hot room. You undress outside, or you carry your clothes in with you and they come out damp. The Sanctuary splits the building in two:

• Sauna room — 200 × 200cm. The hot room proper, with linden wood benches.
• Changing room — 200 × 120cm. A generously sized antechamber for undressing, storing towels and robes, and sitting down between rounds.

That antechamber is what turns a sauna from something you use on a warm evening into something you use in February. It also buffers the hot room from the cold every time the outer door opens, so the temperature holds better through a longer session.

Built for the British climate

The structure is thermowood Nordic spruce — spruce that has been thermally treated rather than chemically preserved, which reduces how much moisture it takes on and keeps it dimensionally stable through the temperature swings a sauna puts it through. Nordic spruce is the traditional Finnish sauna timber: tight-grained, low in resin, and it weathers to a soft silver-grey if left natural.

The floor is decking, which allows air to circulate underneath rather than trapping moisture against the base, and the roof is finished in bituminous covering, available in a range of colours. Ventilation, electrical installation and lighting are all fitted as part of the build.

Doors and windows are tempered glass, with locks available for security — worth having if the sauna is at the bottom of a garden or on a holiday let.

Delivery & Offloading

The Sanctuary is delivered fully assembled, on a flatbed or curtain-side vehicle depending on what your location needs.

Please note: offloading and lifting is a chargeable service and is not included in the price shown. At 1,500–1,600kg this is a crane or HIAB job, and the cost depends on your location, the distance from the vehicle to the spot, and the access available. Call us with your postcode and, ideally, photos of the access route, and we will price it properly before you commit.

Lead time is 8 to 10 weeks, as each sauna is made to order to your specification.

Before It Arrives

Base. It is the customer's responsibility to have a suitable base in place before delivery. It must be level, flat, and rated to take the sauna's weight when in use and filled with people — typically a concrete pad or a properly engineered equivalent, sized to the 340 × 240cm footprint.

Electrical. If you choose an electric heater, you will need a dedicated power feed in place. This must be installed by a fully qualified electrician — it is not a plug-in appliance. The lighting also needs a supply.

Wood-burning stove. Needs a correctly installed flue and the right clearances to combustible materials. We will go through siting with you before you order.

Access. Because it arrives whole, the route matters. Check gateway widths, overhead cables, tree cover and how close a lorry can get. Send us photos if you are unsure and we will look at it with you.

Common Questions

How many people does it actually fit?

Up to five seated in the 200 × 200cm sauna room, depending on bench configuration. Four is comfortable; five works. Bench layout can be specified to suit how you intend to use it.

Is the heater included in the price?

Yes. Your chosen Harvia heater is included — select it from the options above. Other models are available on request.

What is not included?

Offloading and crane hire, the base, and the electrical or flue installation. Those are the three things worth budgeting for alongside the sauna itself, and we would rather you knew now than found out on delivery day.

Can I change the size?

Yes — it is made to order, so dimensions, internal height and the split between sauna room and changing room can all be altered. Tell us the space you are working with and we will design around it.

Will mine look exactly like the photos?

Very close. Because each sauna is made to order and timber is a natural material, slight variation in appearance, colour and grain is normal. It does not affect quality or function.

How long from order to delivery?

Typically 8 to 10 weeks. If you are working to a deadline, tell us at the point of enquiry and we will confirm what is realistic before you commit.
