Bertazzoni PROCH94I1ENET — 90cm Air-Tec vented induction range cooker in black, £5,799. An induction hob, an electric oven and a downdraft extraction system in one chassis — so no overhead hood is needed.
What Air-Tec actually solves
You want a proper range cooker on an island or in an open-plan kitchen, and you don't want an extraction hood hanging in the middle of the room. Air-Tec draws steam and odour down through the hob surface rather than up into a canopy.
That makes it the answer for island installations, open-plan rooms with sightlines you'd rather not break, low or sloping ceilings, and renovations where running ducting through a ceiling void would be the most disruptive part of the job.
The hob
Four induction zones controlled by ergonomic metal knobs in the Professional Series style. Multi-zone technology combines two zones into a single larger cooking area — what you want for a fish kettle, a griddle plate or an oversized pan.
Induction needs ferrous, magnetic cookware. All cast iron works and most modern stainless does; pure aluminium and copper don't. Test yours with a fridge magnet before ordering.
The oven
A single electric oven. This is the trade-off against a standard 90cm Bertazzoni — the extraction system occupies space a second cavity would otherwise use. If you need two ovens, the 90cm twin oven induction (PRO95I2E) starts at £4,599, but you'll need a hood.
The black finish
Gloss black gives full Professional Series presence and pairs naturally with the black induction hob surface, so the cooker reads as one continuous object rather than a panel with a glass top on it. It works with almost any cabinetry and is the default for contemporary handleless kitchens.
One thing to weigh at this price: gloss black shows fingerprints and water marks more than any other finish here, and an Air-Tec model usually sits on an island where it's touched from all sides. Carbonio is the same money and hides marks far better — worth comparing before you decide.
The honest limitation
Downdraft extraction captures best at hob level. Steam from a tall stockpot rises above the capture zone in a way a wide canopy hood would still catch. If you routinely do long simmers in tall pots, a good canopy hood remains more effective at pure extraction.
Most everyday cooking — frying, searing, sautéing — produces steam close to the pan surface, which is exactly where downdraft is strongest.
Installation
Needs a dedicated high-amperage circuit run from the consumer unit by a qualified electrician — not a standard 13A plug. No gas connection and no annual gas safety check.
You also need to decide ducted or recirculating extraction. Ducted vents outside and is more effective; recirculating filters and returns air to the room, is simpler to install, and needs filter changes. Which is possible depends on where the cooker sits relative to an external wall or floor void — so this can determine placement. Resolve it at drawing stage.
Ask us for the exact electrical requirement, aperture and clearance figures from the specification sheet before your cabinetry is cut. Full detail in our installation requirements guide.

Questions
Black or Carbonio? Same price. Black is glossier and more classic; Carbonio is textured and much better at hiding marks. On an island, most people are happier with Carbonio.
Can I get Air-Tec wider than 90cm? No. 90cm is the only width.
Do I really not need a hood? Correct — extraction is built into the cooker.
