Frequently Asked Questions

What water pressure does a steam shower need?

Our steam showers need hot and cold supplies of at least 2.5 bar, and no more than 3.4 bar. Combi boilers and unvented cylinders usually provide that. A gravity fed system with a loft tank usually needs a pump. If your pressure is higher than 3.4 bar, a plumber can fit a pressure reducing valve. Our steam showers UK buyer's guide explains how to check your pressure before you order.

What electrical supply does a steam shower need?

Every steam shower in this range has a fast start 3kW steam generator, and the product pages list a 13 amp electrical supply for the control panel and lighting. Because the cabin sits in a bathroom, the connection must be made by a qualified electrician with suitable RCD protection, and new circuits in a bathroom are notifiable under Part P. Your electrician will confirm the right connection for your consumer unit before installation.

What size steam shower do I need?

Our range runs from an 800 x 800mm quadrant for a small en suite, through 1000 x 1000mm quadrants, 1100 x 700mm offset quadrants and 1050 x 850mm or 1150 x 850mm rectangles, up to a 1400 x 900mm twin cabin built for two people. Measure the floor space, ceiling height and your narrowest door or stair turn. The steam shower size guide filters every model by shape.

Is a steam shower better than a sauna?

They do different jobs. A steam shower fills a sealed cabin with moist steam, so it feels intense at a lower temperature, typically around 40°C to 45°C. A traditional sauna uses dry heat, usually 70°C to 100°C, and needs its own room or garden cabin. A steam shower also works as your everyday shower, so it fits into an existing bathroom. If you prefer dry heat, see our traditional saunas.

How is a steam shower installed, and do I need to tile?

You do not need to tile or tank the walls behind the cabin. The leak free channelled tray needs no silicone sealing, and fast click assembly means the cabin can be used as soon as it is built. You need hot and cold water connections, a waste point (a 1m flexible waste hose is included) and an electrical supply. We recommend installation by a qualified plumber and a qualified electrician.

How long does delivery take, and how does it arrive?

Delivery typically takes around 7 working days from order confirmation, and we let you know by email or phone when it is out for delivery. Cabins arrive in 4 to 5 manageable boxes; the Platinum 1150 x 850mm weighs around 147kg packed, so plan for two people to carry it upstairs. Warranty varies by model, from 2 years to 5 years on registration, so check the product page for the exact terms.
